Software built for how you actually work, live on a date you can hold us to.
When the packaged option stops fitting, the licence is the cheapest part. The real cost is the workarounds, the private spreadsheets and the three days a month spent making four systems agree. We build the thing that should have been there instead, and we put a date on it.
A build, from first conversation to live
A plan for a typical build: five phases running left to right against a twenty-six week calendar, with the milestones on each, a line marking today, and the agreed live date at the end.
- Live on
- A date agreed before anyone writes a line, not a range that drifts
- Priced at
- A fixed figure per phase, approved by you before that phase starts
- Owned by
- You. Outright, with nothing held back as leverage
- Watched from
- Your own account, updated as it happens rather than on a Friday
01Why these go wrong
Almost nothing fails because the software was too hard. It fails on the calendar.
A project is agreed in March and due in September. By June nobody can say whether it is on track, because there is nothing to look at. By August the answer is no, and every option left is a bad one.
The cause is always the same: months pass with nothing working to judge it by. Everyone is busy, everyone is optimistic, and the gap between those two only becomes visible when it is too late to close.
So this runs the other way round. Something you click on every fortnight from the second month. A date fixed in advance and defended by cutting scope, never quality. And an account showing you, this morning, exactly what moved yesterday.
Every 2 weeks
Something real to try
Not a progress report. The actual thing, in your hands, from the second month onwards.
Every change
Visible the moment it happens
Your account updates as work moves, not when somebody remembers to write it up on a Friday.
Every phase
Priced and approved before it starts
You are never committed to more than the next phase, and you can stop at the end of any of them.
Every line of it
Yours outright
Handed over with everything needed to run it without us. Nothing is held back as leverage.
02What we build
Seventeen kinds of system, shaped around your business rather than the other way round.
And the other eleven
- 01ReportingOne honest set of figures drawn from every system you run, assembled by nobody, argued over by nobody, and ready on the first of the month.£30k–£75k
- 02Quoting and proposalsYour pricing rules, however involved, applied correctly by anyone on the team, inside a document that looks like it came from you.£34k–£88k
- 03Client portalsA calm, private place your clients sign in to, see exactly where their work has got to, and get what they need without emailing anybody.£30k–£80k
- 04Documents and approvalsForms filled in once, routed to whoever has to agree, signed, filed where you will find them again, and chased the moment they stall.£30k–£70k
- 05BookingsAvailability your customers book against themselves, with every one of your real rules applied, and far fewer people failing to turn up.£30k–£70k
- 06Stock and assetsStock, tools, vehicles and installed equipment tracked accurately enough that you stop buying things you already own.£35k–£90k
- 07Joining systems upThe systems you already pay for, talking to each other reliably, so a thing entered once appears everywhere it belongs within seconds.£30k–£65k
- 08Leaving a systemA planned, reversible move off the system that is holding you back, without losing a single record or a day of trading.£35k–£110k
- 09MembershipsMembers joining, paying, renewing and getting what they pay for, without anybody in your office administering a single one of them.£32k–£85k
- 10MarketplacesA platform where your suppliers and your buyers find each other, agree terms and pay, with your commission taken cleanly every time.£65k–£200k
- 11Compliance recordsThe records your regulator, your insurer or your biggest client requires, captured as the work happens and produced on demand in minutes.£32k–£80k
03What it looks like when it is done
Screens built around the job, not around a menu structure.
Three from work of this kind. A morning being replanned, what the engineer carries, and a billing run that used to be a spreadsheet. Every one of them replaced something people had quietly stopped using properly.

Norwich City FC is held back. The out-of-hours rate on two callouts is higher than their contract allows, so nothing goes out until somebody says so.
04Before you speak to anybody
Find out what it costs. Without giving anyone your email address.
Most firms make you sit through a discovery call to learn whether you can afford them. That is a waste of an afternoon for both of us, so the figures are on the site instead.
Describe your situation in your own words, or work through it question by question. You get a range, a timescale, the split across each phase, and an honest account of what would move the number. Print it, or send the link to whoever signs things off.
An example
60 people, two connections£84,500 – £116,000
Live in 18 to 23 weeks, with a team of four.
| Getting to the truth | 2w | £9,500 – £13,000 |

| Building it | 9w | £46,000 – £63,000 |
| Proving it | 3w | £11,000 – £15,500 |
| Going live | 1w | £4,500 – £6,000 |
Looking after it afterwards: £1,000 to £1,650 a month, quoted separately and cancellable on ninety days.
05How a build runs
Five phases. You can stop at the end of any of them.
Each phase is quoted and approved on its own, and each one leaves you holding something worth having. You are never committed to a figure you agreed before you knew what you were buying, and you keep everything produced up to the point you stop.
01
Getting to the truth
A written account of how your work really runs today, what the current way is costing you, and what your new system has to do about it.
02
Shaping it
Every screen and every decision your system will make, in front of you and signed off, with your live date fixed at the end of it.
03
Building it
Your system takes shape week by week in your own account, with something you can click on and try at the end of every fortnight.
04
Proving it
Your own people put it through real work with real records, and everything they find is fixed before anybody depends on it.
05
Going live
Your team moves across trained, with their history intact, on the date fixed months earlier.
06While it is being built
You will never have to ask how it is going.
Every client gets an account from the first week. It shows where the work has got to, what was finished yesterday, what is waiting on a decision from you, and whether the date has moved.
It updates the moment something changes, not when a report gets written. If a milestone is marked done at four on a Tuesday afternoon, you can see it at four on a Tuesday afternoon.
It is also where your documents live, where you approve things, and where you can see what has been invoiced and what has not.

07Where we stop
The work we turn down, and why.
A clear no is what makes the yes worth having. These sit outside what this studio does well, so you get an introduction to someone who does them properly rather than a team learning on your budget.
- Apps in the Apple or Google stores
- What gets built here works on a phone properly, through the browser, and pins to a home screen like any other app. A true store app is a different craft with its own release cycle, and you will get better work from a studio that does nothing else.
- Software inside a physical product
- Firmware, embedded controllers and anything certified as part of a device. The system your people use around it, and the connection to whoever makes it, is very much on the table.
- Anything a life depends on
- Medical devices under MHRA regulation, clinical decision-making, aviation, and control systems where a fault injures somebody. These need a regulatory quality system, and you should never accept one from a supplier who cannot show you theirs.
- Trading and settlement systems
- Order execution, market making and anything carrying an FCA permission of its own. The reporting and back-office work around the edges of yours is well within scope.
- Testing your defences by attacking them
- The controls and the evidence get built here. Penetration testing and red teaming are a separate speciality, and you get an introduction to people who do it properly.
- Games, and anything drawn in 3D
- A different craft needing different people, and you would end up with something nobody here would put their name to.
- Work under £30,000
- Below that, the discovery and assurance that make a build worth having cost more than the build itself, so you would be buying process instead of software. No Fear Tech takes on smaller work, does it well, and charges you less for it.
Put a date on it.
Half an hour with whoever would build it gets you the shape of the work, a figure you can take to your board, and the week it could start. No deck, no discovery fee, no follow-up sequence.
